2023 Kaohsiung Rotary Institute
Each year, past, present, and incoming district and senior leaders attend Rotary institutes to share information, build connections, and exchange ideas about Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. This year, we all gathered in Kaohsiung to celebrate our accomplishment and share our variable experience in Rotary. I am glad the all participating leaders from our District had a wonderful time at the Rotary Zone Institute. It is my pleasure to become one of the panellists of “Creating Hope Through Your Foundation Legacy” Breakout Session of The Rotary Foundation. I am glad to share my experience and exchanged ideas with other panellists on how to motivate Rotarians & Rotaractors to make contribution to The Rotary Foundation. This year, the host organized The Cultural Night Dinner and invited all participating Districts to demonstrate their unique cultures with their performance. Our District had a singing and dancing performance. It is our honor to have RI President Gordon R. McInally, Past RI President Gary Wang and Past RI President Mark Daniel Maloney to be one of us, sparking gigantic surprise to all the audience. It is astonishing to have over 1,000 Rotarians dancing with us. What an unforgettable experience! With the closing of the Rotary Zone Institute, DGE Nigel Lo and DGN Cassy Cheng had also completed their Governor-Elect Training Seminar (GETS) and Governor-Nominee Training Seminar (GNTS). We all look forward to more promising Rotary Years with their leadership.
2023年高雄扶輪研習會
每年，前任、現任及候任的地區領導皆會聚首一堂，於扶輪研習會上與其他與會者分享其對國際扶輪及扶輪基金會的所知、所遇和所想。今年，扶輪領導們齊聚高雄，認可我們的成就，分享於扶輪的寶貴經驗。我很高興所有與會的地區領導皆能於高雄扶輪研習會盡興。我很榮幸能扶輪基金會「透過基金會遺產創造希望」研討會中擔任講者，與其他講者分享及交流，探討如何激勵扶輪社友和扶青社員慷慨解囊，捐款予扶輪基金會。今年的主辦人舉辦文化晚宴，邀請各地區的社友透過表演展現他們獨有的文化，3450地區亦有獻上歌舞表演，更獲得國際扶輪社長葛登‧麥金納利、前國際扶輪社長黃其光、以及前國際扶輪社長馬克．丹尼爾．梅隆尼作為神秘嘉賓，參與我們的表演，台上台下過千人一起共舞，好不熱鬧，場面令人難忘。
隨著扶輪研習會的落幕，扶輪地區總監當選人羅承益及地區總監提名人鄭卓群亦分別完成總監當選人培訓會(GETS)及總監提名人培訓會(GNTS)，我們皆翹首以盼，期待在他們的帶領下迎來豐盛的扶輪年度。
Rotary x Lions x JCI Joint Golf Tournament
I’m thrilled to announce the success of the first ever Joint Golf Tournament by Rotary International District 3450, Lions Clubs International District 303, and JCI HK! The event took place on 15 Dec 2023 at the beautiful Zhuhai Jinwan golf course, with a total of 100participants. We are proud to share that the Rotary District 3450 team emerged victorious and won the Overall Team Championship! A huge congratulations to all the participants and a special shoutout to our event chair, PP Abraham Chan, for his outstanding leadership and coordination.
It was a fantastic day filled with friendly competition, networking, and of course, lots of golfing fun. We are grateful for the overwhelming support and participation from all three organizations, making this event a huge success. And, we look forward to organising collaborative events in the future and hope to see even more participants join us next time! Yet, we belong to different groups, but we all have the same target, to serve the community. There should be no competition, no comparation, but only companionship between us. The larger the service projects we have, the greater the impact we make. Rotarians who are also members of Lions and/or JCI, you are the major bridge between. Let’s identify the potential cooperation between the three organizations.
扶輪×獅子×國際青年商會聯合高爾夫錦標賽
我欣然宣布國際扶輪3450地區、國際獅子總會中國港澳303區與國際青年商會香港總會(JCI HK) 成功舉辦首屆聯合高爾夫錦標賽！賽事於2023年12月15日在珠海金灣高爾夫球場舉行，合共100人參賽。賽事結果令人自豪，扶輪3450地區隊伍在比賽中脫穎而出，贏得了全場隊制總冠軍！熱烈祝賀所有參加者，並衷心感謝活動主席PP Abraham Chan出色的領導和協調，促成是次的比賽。
在這天中，各人透過競賽交流連繫，享受高爾夫的樂趣。感謝三方組織的大力支持和參與，使本次活動取得巨大成功。我們期待未來三方能再次合作，亦誠邀各位踴躍參與！ 儘管我們歸屬不同組織，但我們皆懷抱同一個目標：服務社會。我們之間不應存在競爭，亦毋須互相比較，而是結伴同行。我們的服務項目越大，所產生的影響便越大。身兼獅子會和/或JCI成員的扶輪社友，你們是三者之間的主要橋樑。讓我們攜手合作，發掘三方之間的潛在合作。
District Vocational Visit
The District Vocational Visit was held on 16 to 17 December 2023. The 2-day Shenzhen trip commenced with a visit to Mindray Medical International Limited, a Chinese multinational medical instrumentation manufacturer based in Shenzhen, Guangdong. Taking this opportunity, the team of 26 Rotarians and 7 Rotaractors had a provoking exchange with students from Tsinghua University. They showed us around the Shenzhen campus and briefed us about life in one of the top universities in China. We introduced to them our purpose, our service, our spirit of Service Above Self and how dedicated Rotary is to nurture our future social leaders. Teenagers exchanged their ideas on how young people from the mainland and Hong Kong can integrate and communicate. They also shared how youths deal with different challenges in the world.
On the second day, we had a mainland senior expert sharing insight on the coordinated economic development and opportunities of the Greater Bay Area. Difference is the essence of humanity. The answer to difference should never be hatred or conflict, but respect and understanding. Understanding each other would be the first step to harmony. Understanding the country’s overall development of the Greater Bay Area can help set long-term plans for future development as early as possible by leveraging Hong Kong’s advantages.
地區職業導向探訪
地區職業導向探訪於2023年12月16日至17日舉行，為期兩天的深圳之旅第一站參觀位於廣東深圳的中國跨國醫療器材製造商邁瑞醫療國際有限公司。26名扶輪社員和7名扶青社員組成的團隊亦趁此機會與清華大學的學生深入交流，清華師生們除了向我們介紹深圳分校的概況以外, 還介紹學生在這所中國頂尖大學的生活的情況。我們亦向他們介紹了國際扶輪社及3450地區的宗旨及服務情況, 發揚「超我服務」的扶輪精神，以及如何致力培訓未來的社會領袖。雙方青年就內地與香港青年人如何融合交流、如何面向世界的不同挑戰等發言交流。
團隊第二天邀得內地資深專家就大灣區經濟協同發展及機遇分享見解。差異是人性的本質，緩解差異的方法不是仇恨或衝突，而是尊重與理解。相互了解便是和諧共融的第一步。分享有助了解國家對大灣區的發展大局，發揮香港優勢，為未來發展及早設定長遠規劃。
Peace School Programme Kickoff
2023-24 Peace School Programme was kicked off on 22 December 2023 in Ocean Park. On the same day, the Global Citizenship & the Future of Humanity Seminar was also organised. Representatives from different organisations were invited to share their views on human approach towards caring for and helping others whenever and wherever possible. We had a discussion on how Rotary can play a role in facilitating sustainable development and what we have done.
和平學校計劃啟幕
2023-24年和平學校計劃於2023年12月22日在海洋公園正式展開。 當日，大會邀請了不同的機構的代表對全球公民與人類未來這一課題進行一場研討會，各方分享如何相互扶持、推己及人的裨益。同時，我亦於會上分享扶輪在促進永續發展方面所擔綱的角色以及所作的工作。
Rotary Peace Camp 2024
In early December, the organising committee and I paid a visit to Li Po Chun United World College, our long-term supporter and venue provider for Rotary Peace Camp. We introduced Rotary to their new Principal Dr Spencer and expressed our appreciation to the College’s faculties and students for supporting Peace Camp over the last 3 years. This year, 2024 Rotary Peace Camp will be organised on 9 to 10 March 2024. I am looking to witness how the HOPE element can be integrated into the 4th Rotary Peace Camp to echo the presidential theme Create Hope in the World. Students are encouraged to put what they acquire from the camp into practice.
扶輪和平訓練營2024
十二月初，我和活動籌委會成員到訪香港李寶椿聯合世界書院，該校一直致力支持扶輪和平訓練營，並提供場地予我們使用。我們向新任校長Dr .Spencer介紹扶輪工作，同時亦對該校過去三年的支持表示衷心的感謝。今年的扶輪和平訓練營將於本年3月9及10日舉行，期望能在本屆的活動中，響應今年「為世界創造希望」的年度主題，加入更多「希望」的元素，並鼓勵同學們在參與活動過後，將所學的東西能在生活中得以實踐。
Election of 2026-27 District Governor
I am pleased to inform you that the nominating period for the coming Election of 2026-27 District Governor has now commenced. A Briefing Session will be organised by the DGN Election Committee chaired by PDG Peter Wan. This Briefing Session is for those members of your club who are interested in participating in the Election and/or wish to know more about the election process and requirements. Please share this important message to all your fellow Club members. Please be reminded that the deadline of District Governor nomination will be on 29th January 2024.

Joint President Meeting
In December, over 60 District Officers and Presidents celebrated the joyful festival together at JPM. The atmosphere is wonderful. We partied; we exchanged gifts; we connected and had fun together with our family and friends. We also took the chance to have a quick review on our achievement in the first half of the Rotary Year, targeting to Create Hope in the World!

Maycham (Hong Kong and Macau) X Rotary Durian Feast
We organised a delicious Durian Party together with the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong and Macau). Thank you PDG Eric Chin and DS Esther Ow for liaising this fellowship event. In addition to tasting Malaysian durian, it also provided a valuable opportunity for members from different parties to get to know each other, facilitate mutual understanding and develop friendship. There is no limitation for membership recruitment approach. Reach out to potential members whichever you may to strengthen Rotary.
馬來西亞(香港及澳門)商會X扶輪榴槤派對
我們與馬來西亞商會共同舉辦一場美味的榴槤派對。 感謝前地區總監錢樹楷和地區秘書區睿凌協調本次聯誼活動。活動除了品嚐馬來西亞的頂級榴槤美食之外, 更重要是讓雙方機構的會員互相認識， 增進了解及建立友誼。社員招募方式沒有限制，發揮想像，物色潛在社員，加強扶輪的實力。
Hiking in Clearwater Bay
We work hard; we play hard! My team organised a hike on 30 December in Clearwater Bay. Participating District Officers and Presidents enjoyed the breathtaking view after the long journey. We also had mouthwatering seafood to draw a beautiful ending to the last few pages of 2023, getting ready to start with the very first blank page of the 365-page book.
