Rotary Small-Group Blood Donation Days

In September 2023, Hong Kong suffered into damage by the Super Typhoon Saola and torrential rainfall with black rainstorm signal lasted for 16 hours. In general, under those extreme weather, the blood storage will be shortage due to the blood donor centers not being able to operate.

Rotarians responded to this social need promptly. 43 Rotarians and friends from 8 Rotary clubs donated blood at the donor centres in Causeway Bay, Wanchai and Mongkok respectively in September. 31 of the donors donated blood successfully. In this Rotary Year, 73 Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends registered in our events and 52 of them donated blood successfully.

Our District Health Service Committee invites the Rotary clubs in Hong Kong to be our Ambassadors of Blood Donation and host Group Blood Donation Event. We aim to make a deeper impact on blood donation in our community and raise awareness among the Rotarians, Rotaractors, and the citizens. We also would be able to help the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service to stabilize the blood storage.
